Annual Broadside Contest

The submission period is currently closed for the House Mountain Review Annual Broadside Contest. The winning entry will be typeset and custom-printed together with an original illustration in an edition of 100 broadsides. All entries will be considered for publication in House Mountain Review, and the winner & finalists will be recognized on HMR’s website. The winner will receive 10 copies of the broadside.

Eligibility: Please submit only original poems in English (multi-lingual texts are permissible so long as part of the poem appears in English). Previously published poems or poems in translation are not eligible for this contest.

Guidelines: Poems must be no more than 30 lines in length. Each entry should comprise 1-3 poems, submitted as a single .docx or .pdf file. A reading fee of $7 directly supports the material cost of the broadside; multiple entries are permissible, but each entry requires its own separate reading fee.

Reading Period: 1 October - 15 November
Results will be announced in the new year, and all contestants will be notified of the results via Submittable. All entries must be received via Submittable by 11:59PM (EST) on 15 November 2021.
